Cat or Dog? Whose Side Are You On?

If you're much like a cat, there's something to learn from the dogs: loyalty, courage, and an unconditionally loving and positive attitude, for example.
If you're much like a dog, there's something to learn from the cats: independence, dignity, mutual respect and being yourself, for instance.
If you aren't at all like a cat and not at all like a dog, then we think there may well be something you can learn from both.

Cat in the Dog House?

Funny Dog House Story

kitten and a what !?!?

Honey (Golden Retriever) and Precious (Kitten)Dog (Honey) suckles kitten (Precious)

A dog named 'Honey' has taken a kitten to her bosom.  This true story started when the tiny kitten ran out in front of Jimmy Martin's truck in Stephen's City, Virginia.  Jimmy searched for the kitten's mother amongst the old tires at the Front Royal plant.  No luck.
At first Jimmy and his wife Kathy tried to feed the kitten, who they named Precious, from a bottle.  No success.  At this point their golden retriever Honey took an interest in Precious.  Honey was so excited and attentive to the new kitten that she started lactating naturally after a few days.  It transpires that Honey had previously reared a litter of puppies, but that was over year before Precious appeared on the scene.Honey and Precious cross-species rearing
Equally importantly, the kitten took to her surrogate mother Honey.  Rearing tiny kittens can be difficult as they won't always take cows milk from a bottle.  Kathy summed up the situation by saying: "Precious really is precious. And Honey has really proved to be a honey.

rabbit joke story

A Classic Rabbit Yarn  by Pauline HendersonRabbit Yarn

A rabbit walks into a pub and says to the barman, 'Can I have a pint of beer and a ham and cheese toastie?' The barman is amazed but gives the rabbit a pint of beer and a ham and cheese toastie. The rabbit drinks the beer and eats the toastie, he then leaves.
The following night the rabbit returns and again asks for a pint of beer and a ham and cheese toastie. The barman, now intrigued by the rabbit and the extra drinkers in the pub (because word gets round) gives the rabbit the pint and the toastie. The rabbit consumes them and leaves.
The next night, the pub is packed, in walks the rabbit and says, 'A pint of beer and a ham and cheese toastie, please barman.' The crowd is hushed as the barman gives the rabbit his pint and toastie and then burst into applause as the rabbit wolfs them down.Rabbit toastie
The next night there is standing room only in the pub, coaches have been laid on for the crowds of patrons attending, the barman is making more money in one week than he did all last year. In walks the rabbit and says, 'A pint of beer and a ham and cheese toastie, please barman, 'smiling and accepting the tributes of the masses. The barman says, 'I'm sorry rabbit, old mate, old mucker but we are right out of them ham and cheese toasties' . The rabbit looks aghast, the crowd has quietened to almost a whisper, when the barman clears his throat nervously and says, 'We do have a very nice Cheese and Onion Toastie.' The rabbit looks him in the eye and says, 'Are you sure I will like it?' The masses bated breath is ear shatteringly silent. The barman, with a roguish smile says, 'Do you think that I would let down one of my best friends, I know you'll love it.' Ok, 'says the rabbit, 'I'll have a pint of beer and a cheese and onion toastie'. The pub erupts with glee as the rabbit quaffs the beer and guzzles the toastie, he then waves to the crowd and leaves.... .....
NEVER TO RETURN

One year later in the now impoverished public house, the barman (who has only served 4 drinks tonight, 3 of which were his) calls time. When he is cleaning down the now empty bar, he sees a small white form, floating above the bar. The barman says, 'Who are you?' To which he is answered, 'I am the ghost of the rabbit that used to frequent your public house.' The barman says, 'I remember you, you made me famous, you would come in every night and have a pint of beer and a ham and cheese toastie, masses came to see you and this place was famous.' The rabbit says, 'Yes I know.' The barman said, 'I remember, on your last night we didn't have any ham and cheese toasties, you had a cheese and onion one instead.' The rabbit said, 'Yes, you promised me that I would love it' . The barman said, 'You never came back, what happened?'I DIED' , said the rabbit.' NO!' said the barman, 'what from?' After a short pause, the rabbit said......................................................

why the chicken block the road

Chickens on the Road

On October the 11th 2007 a lorry load of chickens were being taken from a farm where they were raised to the slaughterhouse.  2,500 birds managed to carryout a daring escape on the A80 near Haggs in Scotland. Why did the chicken block the road?
When the lorry jack-knifed, true to form, instead of heading for the hills, like headless chickens they dashed about all over the dual carriageway.  What they did achieve was to bring much of the traffic between Glasgow and Stirling to a halt.
We would like to wish the lorry driver a speedy recovery, for him it was not funny as he sustained severe back injuries.  Naturally, there were casualties amongst the chickens and about 500 died in the escape.

chettah story(not real)

By Deon Jobs, Age 14
From The Orphan Calf and the Magical Cheetah: Cheetah Poems, Essays and Illustrations by the Children of Namibia
Published by the Cheetah Conservation Fund: New Namibia Books, 1996A long, long time ago when animals could still talk, there lived a cheetah. He was the only one from his species that survived. This cheetah had a beautiful gold skin and was very quick; therefore the other animals called him Blitz.

His prey could not easily escape him, and he could always find lots of wild animals, like rabbits, springbok, and hares. So, whenever he was hungry, he would go down to the river and he would always find something close by to eat.

One day Blitz was down by the river, getting ready to pounce on a springbok for lunch. But when he looked up, he saw a hunter's rifle pointed at him. Blitz became frightened and he ran and ran as fast as he could. Running was something that Blitz was very good at, so good in fact, that after a few minutes, he realized that he had run far away from home. Now he was in a strange place where nothing looked familiar and food was scarce and he was getting very hungry now.

Fortunately, Blitz came across a hare, and just as he was about to eat him, the hare begged him not to, promising Blitz that there were many hares nearby much fatter than he. Blitz grimaced suspiciously and told the hare to speak quickly if he wanted to live.

With that the hare walked over to a big, dangerous-looking rock and told the cheetah that he must strike the rock as hard as he could with two stones that the hare gave him. And so Blitz took the stones and hit the strange looking rock with all of his might. Well, it turned out that this big rock was actually a beehive and the next moment Blitz was being tackled by a swarm of bees. Blitz ran as quickly as he could to the nearest river and jumped into the water. Meanwhile, the hare ran in the other direction and managed to escape.

When Blitz got out of the water, he was covered in spots from all of the bee stings that he had received. The other animals asked him, "What happened to your beautiful gold skin?" He would just look angrily at them and walk by. In time though, he began to like his spots and he became proud of them because they made him look different from all of the other cats. But form that day forward, Blitz and the hare were bitter enemies.
There are over 3000 spots on an adult cheetah's coat.
